We have finally gotten settled into a routine and recently discovered our mountain bikes again. It is hotter than hades out now but, if we get up with the sun at 5am, we can get out and get a cooler ride in while it is still in the 80's. We discovered a great set of makeshift 'trails' just outside of our subdivision where there is still a mix of corn fields, hay fields, and areas they have just broken ground on for new housing.
It is just so awesome to start the day watching tractors in the fields, scaring up jackrabbits and being chased by buttery colored butterflies as we breeze along on our two wheeled, leg powered transportation all against a backdrop of the Estrella Mountains. I know this is short lived though because so many new homes are going up in this area but, I am so enjoying it while I can. Sometimes I close my eyes and smell deeply of the freshly mown fields and I can swear I am back on the country roads of my hearts home.

Beautifully written, you painted a lovely picture, felt like I was there smelling the freshly mown hay and feeling the warmth of the sun on my skin. I'm so glad that we have instilled in you the love of all living things and life in the country and that you have a way with words that help you convey that love to others through the printed page.
Your adoring Mom

I think I got all of those things from you and dad. The love of living things, life in the country and having a way with words. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Neither does the nut ;)
