We had been over 140 days with no rain here. The weather forecasters kept teasing us but, it would never appear. That all changed Friday night. It got chilly and then the rain started. I went out to the backyard and literally danced in it. Saturday we woke up and it was grey and cold. Our backyard was partially flooded and our little decorative, fake "river" that cuts through the back actually had water running in it! I looked out the family room window and told Larry that the heavy clouds covering the Estrella mountains most likely had snow in them. He told me I was crazy. An hour later we both stood in awe as the clouds cleared and there on the peaks, was SNOW! As if that wasn't enough yesterday I made a run to WalMart (a whole mile from our house now. That is so dangerous) and in looking East of us I see the Superstition mountains where we used to live were COVERED in the white stuff! I came home and got online and discovered there are webcams on the mountains around here. I saved some of the images of the snow for you:
This is the Superstition mountains as they normally are:
This is what they looked like yesterday:
If any of you want to check out the webcam of the Sierra Estrella's where we live now, this is web address:
If you look at that image, we are about 5 miles closer to the mountains just a hair to the left. :) Look at the image at night and you can almost see the lights from our little subdivision area.
