Wow! Remind me to never, ever wait this long between blogs again! Let's see if I can try to remember everything we have been doing lately. (whenever you see a little image in this post, click it to see the big one)
I got to spend take an extended weekend away to see mom and dad the last weekend in October. It may have been a short trip but, we managed to make each day count. We spent one day at Silver Dollar City and it was the first time I had been there for the Crafts Festival in years. We had so much fun and mom got to see Roy Rogers Jr. :) I got to meet and have my picture taken with Buck Taylor (Newly O'Brien on Gunsmoke) and we all went on the newest roller coaster, Powderkeg. THAT was nutty. Talk about G force! I was stoked that Terry (my brother) got to go with us as well. I think that was a first. I and my brother and mom and dad going all doing something fun, just the four of us. Then mom and I spent a day flea marketing. I found some goodies as always. The next day was dad's birthday. Mom got up early and made him breakfast in bed then we took his tray, cards and gifts up to him. Later Terry and Amy came out and while the guys grilled outside, us gals made wine coolers and cracked jokes and just had a ball.
I have the pics I took on dad's birthday up. I will be adding the others as well later.
Unfortunately I had to leave Halloween day. I got home and Larry and I got the house ready for the trick or treaters. I dress up every year and this year went a little less scary (last year I was a witch and I think I scared some of the younger kids) as a country girl. Overalls, pigtails and cowboy hat. Larry opted to play Xbox and I would report to him each time the doorbell rang, what kind of little creature we had on our step.
The Arizona State Fair came into town and in all the years I have lived here we always say we are going and we always miss it. This time, we made it. They had a $20 all you can ride day and I snuck out of work early to go. We got there about an hour after the park opened and rode all afternoon long. There were no lines that early and it was great. There was one ride that I told Larry he was going to have to go on by himself. I am not that keen on things that take me upside down and just about all the rides there did just that. But, this one looked ominous. It was like an octopus with several 'arms' off of its 'body'. The seats, if you can call them that, were on these arms. The seats were just big enough for each ass cheek. Your legs hung straight down. There was a bar that came over the top of you and that was it. This thing would start going and as the body would turn from one side to the other, the arms would spin and spin and spin. And it wasn't just the same motion over and over again. It was run using a computer program so it would twist this way and that way the whole time the people riding it looked like little stick figures. No way in hell I was getting on that thing.
We rode everything but, the scary ride, even catching a demolition derby, and on the way out Larry said he was going on it. I stood in line with him to keep him company and by the time we got up there, I had convinced myself to try it. It was either the beer I had just consumed or the fact that I had lost my mind but, I found myself balancing on my my butt cheeks, strapped in and becoming one of those 'stick figures'. To my amazement, the ride was actually fun! Once I got over the taunting from Larry screaming next to me "don't throw up that beer you just had!” A**hole. I can honestly say we got our $20 worth of rides that day.

Just a week later I was off to Hollywood, California for an awards show. The company I work for was up for an award and since my boss lives in Spain, I was asked to attend and represent us. Of course I went! I got to stay at the Universal Studios Hilton right at Universal Studios. I didn't go to the park but, I did go to City Walk. Lots of cool shops and restaurants. Then the night of the awards show came. I went, decked to the nines complete with high heels. The venue the show was at had no chairs at the tables so it was standing room only (unless you were VIP) so I had my shoes kicked off most of the night. Good thing I put them on before they announced the winners in our category because we WON! So I had to get on stage and accept the award. I think I did ok. All I know is I am so glad the lights were bright so I couldn't see the 500 or so people out there looking at me. Gaaa!
I got home from Hollywood on a Saturday afternoon and the very next day we grabbed Buster, got a house sitter, loaded up the car and headed up to Montana for Thanksgiving with Larry's family. We divided the trip into three, 6 to 7 hour legs leaving plenty of room to stop and take pictures or poke around if some place caught our attention. It was a gorgeous drive up just as I had hoped for. We saw some very interesting old houses, barns and even an old town that we stopped at and took pictures. Of course, I will be getting those up as soon as Larry gets his to me. I have my own pics of him taking pics that turned out pretty cool as well. He wants to do a coffee table book of all his photos and I am thinking the ones I keep taking of him taking pics, will be good for the jacket cover but, that is another story. Our second night we stopped at Larry's dad's house in Idaho and spent the night. We got there just before dinner and then went out to see some of the town. We had so much fun and now I know where Larry gets his obnoxiousness from. :) We left there the next morning and headed on into to Missoula. The sun was out the entire trip but, as soon as we got about 50 miles away, the fog rolled in and it was as thick as pea soup. The temperature dropped as well and we must have gotten moisture in a small chip because our windshield cracked all the way across. I called our insurance company only to be told we did not have zero deductible on glass. Bah.
We got to Larry's cousin Shannon’s house and I got to meet all of his aunts and his uncle. They made me feel so welcome and at home. It was awesome. We ate a yummy dinner (I learned quickly that when visiting Larry's family, you eat WELL) and then we were off to Cousin Karrie Sue and Johns place to spend the next three days with them.
